A working meeting of the community of people who use drugs, patients of Opiod Agonist Therapy (OAT) in the Republic of Kazakhstan with the OAT national coordinator from the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Mental Health of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and representatives of international organizations was held on April 7, 2021. During the meeting, the following issues were discussed:
  • Clarifications on the selection of individual methadone dosages.
  • Possibility of admitting people with mixed use of opioid drugs and NPS to the OAT program.
  • Information on the opening of new sites of OAT in the RK.
  • The issue of including a peer consultant in the OAT multidisciplinary team.
  • Expansion of the line of OAT drugs.
  • Questions on the provision of obtaining continuous access during hospitalization for OAT patients in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Within the Platform for Key Populations under the Country Coordinating Committee on work with International Organizations on HIV and Tuberculosis (CCM), a meeting was held with representatives of the Social Health Insurance Fund on ensuring access to medical services for patients with socially significant diseases. During the meeting, the following issue was discussed:

Within the UNDP project “Support to CCM for 2020-2022”, funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (hereinafter - the Global Fund),  a training was conducted for CCM members and NGO representatives to strengthen the community's capacity to interact with CCM. Within the framework of this training, the following questions were presented:

Within the UNDP project “Support to CCM for 2020-2022”, funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (hereinafter - the Global Fund), a virtual Platform meeting was held for PLHIV, PWID, MSM, SW and TB communities to discuss issues to be included in the tentative CCM meeting agenda and consider the challenges in implementing HIV and TB grants. During the Platform meeting the following agenda items were dicussed:

On February 25, 2021, a briefing was held by the Local Fund Agent (LFA) on the results of LFA spot-check visits under the Global Fund grant (HIV component). During the briefing, the results of the spot-check visits of the Local Fund Agent to the Karaganda region and Nur-Sultan were presented.
